I’m loving this easy, yet dreamy little 3D paper bird’s nest!

I just love nature and am just tickled when I see it brought indoors.  Bird’s nests are an adorable way to add a bit of love and nature to your projects and they are oh-so-trendy in crafting right now!  This one is super quick and easy to make.  Wouldn’t it be adorable for an “about to hatch” baby shower?

This is all you need:

1. Your favorite Stampin’ Up! designer series paper.  My current favorite is Comfort Cafe which I used above.

2. Soft suede cardstock

3. Crystal Effects

4. 3 paper mache eggs

To do:

1. Cut your chosen designer series paper into strips.  The size and number of strips will vary depending on the size of the eggs you are using.  My eggs are 2 inches tall, so my strips were 1/2 inch wide and 2 1/4 inch long.  I cut my paper as I went so that I wouldn’t waste any paper.  It took 5 strips, but again it would vary depending on the size of the egg.

2.  Add Crystal Effects to the egg from end to end in the width of one of your strips and begin shaping your paper onto the egg.  You want the paper to be saturated enough with Crystal Effects that it is pliable, but not so wet that it rips.  The paper will not be completely smooth on the egg, but that is okay.  Just   fold, squish, pinch however you need to to form to the shape of the egg.   Continue around the egg with strips until it is covered.

3. If you want to, add a layer of Crystal Effects over the paper/egg for added shine and protection.  I balanced mine on the rim of an old baby bottle to dry, moving it periodically so that it didn’t stick and rip the paper when I moved it.

1. Use your Stampin’ Trimmer to cut 1 sheet of cardstock into 1/4 inch strips.

2. Separate into 4 bunches and scrunch the bunches a little in your hand to wrinkle.

3. Now I wish I had a better explanation for what comes next, but it is a messy nest so the only way I can think to describe it is to haphazardly weave the bunches together to form a nest.

And Voila!

I love versatility therefore I love Versamark!

Versamark is my friend!  I am obsessed with using it.  On this little card, I stamped my own background using Versamark and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it texture.  I also love using it without embossing to spruce up cards or scrapbook pages by adding a subtle design to colored card stock.  Check out an example here.  Instead of using a border punch or edgelit to create the decorative strip, I decided to use a repeating punch to get the same effect.

Now get busy stampin’ and don’t forget if you are in the Roseville Ca area this Saturday,  Sept. 15 from 10:00am to 3pm is my Busy Stamper Open House!  Join me to see lots of cute samples, do free make & takes, and win some fabulous door prizes.  1620 Oak Tree Drive.  See you there!

Stamping with a Sweet Color Combo

This was one of those all to common occasions that I sat down with a card sketch in my head and then went in a completely different direction, but I am so pleased with the result!  I love how sweet Calypso Coral, Pool Party, and Lucky Limeade look together.   Stamping with the Raining Flowers stamp set allowed me to create my own background and the Linen Thread gave it a beachy feel that was perfect for my Grandmother’s Birthday.  She loves the beach and handmade cards!  Happy Birthday Grandma!

Oh how I wish I had time to scrapbook….

…..is what I always think when I see scrappers with their beautifully embellished albums.  Thanks to Stampin’ Up!  I do!  I decided to try a simply Scrappin’ Kit.  The kit includes 3 sheets of card stock stickers for embellishing, 6 sheets of 12×12 decorative paper, and 8 sheets of 12×12 card stock, all perfectly color coordinated of course.  I was able to whip up these cute pages in less than half an hour!  Even I can make time for that!

Welcome!!!!!!! (and a free gift)

Thank you for joining me, Beth, a.k.a. The Busy Stamper, for my inaugural post!  I am so excited to share my stamping and paper crafting journey with you.  I hope you will continue to join me for tips and inspiration to help motivate you to keep stamping no matter how busy you are.

I just LOVE making coordinating card sets.  They make great inexpensive, but oh so meaningful gifts.  And who wouldn’t love to have an adorable handmade set like this on hand?  Simple  layering and an embossed and embellished card holder make this little gift look like it took so much longer to make than it really did,  a bonus when life is so busy.  I’m in love with the Fabulous You stamp set.  The high heel is so girly and gorgeous.  It has such great detail that you can color or just leave the stamp as is and it looks beautiful.  This time I decided to color it with the fine tip of my Stampin’ Write  Markers.

As a gift to my new readers (and hopefully new blog friends :-)), here is a FREE printable template so you can make the card holder with your favorite Stampin’ Up! goodies!  A2 card set holder template
